Have A Huge Clear Out
And make sure you’re brutal. If you’ve not used it, worn it, or even looked at it in the last six months, it’s got to go! Moving is a time-consuming process, so you want to work on making it as easy and efficient as possible. Sometimes, that means taking less stuff with you - especially if the stuff in question is something you no longer love or need. It might take you a while to do, but a cleanse like this always makes you feel better.
Start Packing Early
Then, when you have worked out what you do and don’t want, you’re going to need to start packing. Some people believe you should leave it as late as possible as you tend to need most of the things you pack up, but that’s just not efficient. Start with items in storage, or books, clothes and home-wares that are not classed as essentials. Pack it all into labelled boxes and organise your stored boxes by room.
Have A Cross Over
It might seem cost effective to move out of one house and into another on the same day. But if you’re trying to focus on stress reduction, this is a huge no-no. You will be running wild and trying to get too much done. And if you’re moving across the country - forget it. Instead have a sensible amount of cross over time. That way, you can clean up the new place and do things like put new flooring down and build furniture with the help of things like Kenyon Adhesives.
Arrange Day Care
If you’ve got kids, you’re going to want to make sure they are entertained for a few hours on the day (or days) that you move. Trying to feed your kids and generally keep them safe and happy and move house is too much like hard work. But, by asking a friend to take care of them or putting them into a daycare facility, you can get most of the move done quickly and quietly, and they will be none the wiser.
Stick To The Plan
Okay, so it’s not always easy to stick to a plan. But, when it comes to making a move stress-free, you’re going to have to try your hardest. Make a moving plan and stick to it to a tee. Decide which rooms you need to put together or decorate first (like the children's’ rooms) and make sure you go through everything in order. And most importantly of all, don’t give up when the bulk is done. You’ll feel better knowing that your new house is made into a home as soon as possible.
