The Best Nail Polishes For Spring*

From soft sky blues and sea greens, to bright corals and hot pinks, whatever your preference is when it comes to polish, there is always a shade for you. After trying out different colours from all the latest collections, I've put together this list of favourites. All these long-lasting, quality polishes deliver just what they promise.

1. L'Oreal Paris Coral Trianon Nail Lacquer

One of the most popular summer colours is Coral Trianon. Paint it on your toes to compliment your tan. (It also looks great on fairer complexions too.) It's super pigmented and ultra-shiny but without that pearly luster or frosted look about it. A single coat looks like three making it also cost efficient. It's easy to apply and quick to dry.

2. Rimmel's 60 Seconds Super Shine 315 Queen of Tarts

Other than the gorgeous colour, one thing I loved about this polish was that it did just what it said it would on the bottle. It dries really fast (applied mine whilst sunning myself on the beach, so it didn't have long to stay sand-free), has excellent pigment, and is ultra-shiny. About two weeks later, it's still intact on all nails.

3. Paul & Joe Azelea Pink 14 Nail Polish

Azelea Pink 14 is an ultra-shiny polish, rich in colour. Just a single coat should do, but two coats leaves your nails with a gorgeous gel effect. This pretty pink has a certain lustrous look but is not too in your face. It certainly looks great on both fingers and toes.

4. Essie Shades On Nail Lacquer

With this assortment of Florida inspired brights, Shades On by Essie has come up with some bold, and rather stunning shades this season. The retro-purple looks especially pretty on tanned toes.

5. Nails Inc. Cornwall Gardens Nail Polish

For neutral nails, Cornwall Gardens by Nails Inc. is the polish to go for. This grown-up minky-grey is stunning. Shiny yet flat with no frosting, it is an understated shade. With Matcha powder (an antioxidant) and a nourishing almond oil base, this polish makes sure that your nails are also protected and healthy. This is one of the best polishes to get if you have nails that split and peel.

6. Dolce & Gabbana's Cyclamen Intense Nail Lacquer

A hot, show-stopping magenta pink, Cyclamen is not a shade for the faint of heart. It looks glorious on toes. The pigment is quite rich, so just a single coat should do. The great thing about this one is that it dries quite fast, making it an obvious choice if you're up against the clock. Go for two coats and your nails will look truly sublime.

7. Models Own's Deep Sea Hyper Gel

A lush, deep sea green polish by Models Own which offers a translucent look with just one coat. If you're after a gel-like finish then you'll need to apply a second coat. Models Own's nail brushes are spectacularly wide, making painting an easy task.

8. Lancome Vernis' In Love Bleu

Lancome Vernis' cornflower blue shade is the true essence of summer and spring. While it needs no less than two coats (it can be quite watery), the result is certainly worth the effort.

9. Tanya Burr's Little Duck Nail Polish

As most of you know, the gorgeous Tanya of YouTube fame launched her own line of makeup not so long ago. Her semi-matte pale green, mint choc chip inspired polish needs about two coats and looks great on fingers and toes.
