Hello lovelies! I know what you're all thinking - shock, horror - Justine has FINALLY shown her face on GGD after hiding behind the camera for so long. Yes indeedy! I'm still in shock myself ha ha!
One of my goals this year was to step outside of my comfort zone and after this weekend I can safely say that doing this has smashed that goal right out of the park.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate having my photo taken, so willingly posing for these pics and then publishing them on here was a really big deal for me.
When the lovely folk at me&i got in touch asking if I'd like to try out a couple of items of clothing, I jumped at the chance. Determined to wear a colour that was for once not black, I opted for these bright 'tomato' coloured classic straight pants and the classic round-neck t-shirt that reads, 'This is me.'
Initially before the items arrived I was anxious that I'd struggle to get into the jeans. I never really know what size to go for to be honest as it can be very hit and miss when ordering online. You all must know what I'm talking about right? But I needn't have worried as these high waisted classic 5-pocket jeans literally slid on and fit me perfectly. Being such a gloriously hot day I decided to turn them up at the ankles. Made with 97.5% cotton, 2.5% elastane, they were soft to the touch and I also adored the pretty embroidered logo detail on the back. The t-shirt made with 100% cotton was garment washed for an extra-soft feel. Both items were just so incredibly soft and comfortable and for the first time in ages I felt - dare I say it - trendy!?
As for getting ready for the 'photoshoot', it only took me a mere - coughs - four hours, much to my mum's amusement. I spent ages playing around with makeup - a paper bag over my head just wouldn't have cut it - and pinning my hair into some elaborate top knot only for me to tear it down as soon as my sister started snapping shots. Sometimes au naturel just works better for me.
Much amusement was had by (passers by) who slowed down to see what was going on. I did look like I was getting a bit friendly with the letterbox at one point, and I nearly fell about laughing at Nathan squatting in the most hilarious positions whilst pretending to be a professional photographer! If only you could have all seen! :)
As first style posts go I feel pretty lucky to have worked with a brand I truly can get on board with. Take a look at who me&i are below, what they represent and of course, do pop on over to their website. Let me know if you buy any items from their collection! There's a sale on right now! ;)
Who are me&i?
Founded in 2004 by Susan and Helene from the kitchen table in their homes, me&i is a Swedish clothing company that manufactures clothes in a responsible manner using only the highest quality soft materials.
3 reasons why I support this brand...
1. They make great quality clothes that look and feel good.
2. With all items certified to the OEKO-TEX standard, this means you have a guarantee that any me&i clothes will not contain any hazardous substances that may irritate your skin or pose a threat to your health.
3. A company that isn't afraid to stand up for what they believe in, they promote positive change within the fashion industry and only use factories that apply their code of conduct.
This statement* says it all for me:
'Nowadays, all of us – manufacturers and consumers alike – must take active social and environmental responsibility through our choices and actions.'
Couldn't have put it better myself!
Get involved!
If you're looking to get your teeth into a new project or are feeling entrepreneurial, then me&i also have opportunities to become sales consultants. Or maybe you want to host a party instead? Book before the 30th June and you could get your hands on a gorgeous soft poncho as a gift!* (Terms and conditions apply.*)
Many thanks to my nephew, Nathan, and to my sister and fellow blogger, Janine, for kindly taking these photos.
