We've all been there at some point or another, whether it be getting over a crush as a teenager or dealing with heartbreak when you've split with your long term boyfriend, regardless, heartache sucks. Time - as I'm sure you'll have heard, is a great healer, but in the meantime while you're feeling down and out, here are some ideas on how to lift your spirits and hopefully move on!
Wallow
No matter what anyone says, a period of wallowing is allowed after a breakup. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's an essential part of the grieving process. I advise Ben and Jerry's, or your ice-cream of choice, Netflix bingeing, plenty of tissues and of course wine.
Spend Time With Your Girlfriends
Friends are a huge part of your life at the best of times. They're there to have laughs with, celebrate the good times, and if they're true friends, they'll be there for you in your time of need too. Anyone remember the Sex And The City movie? Perfect example. Nuff said.
Book A Holiday
Most people say that the first thing they do to cure end of holiday blues is to book another as soon as they land home. In the same respect, booking a holiday will hopefully lift your spirits and give you something to look forward to. Even if you just book to go away for a weekend it'll do you the world of good.
Have A Spa Day
A feel good pamper session could be just what the doctor ordered. I love how relaxed and content I feel after a massage or facial. I'm not for one minute suggesting that you'll be over your ex the minute you step out of the sauna room, but it'll help you to relax for a little while.
Get A Tattoo
Okay, I'm going to hold my hands up and admit that this was not my idea! One of my best friends helped me put some of these ideas together and she threw in this one. If you are a fan of tattoos and you really want one then go for it. But please don't get anything you'll live to regret purely out of vengeance.
A New Look
Throw out your old clothes - or maybe give them to charity - and go on a shopping spree with the girls, it could be the perfect tonic. A new wardrobe, a new hair cut and maybe a whole new you! One of my friends said that she always gets a new haircut after any huge life changing event because it helps her to achieve closure and then she can finally move on. If you want to try a new makeup look then visit the beauty counters in your local department store or local Boots, and if you live near the Trafford Centre then there's plenty of beauty experts on hand.
Get Back In The Saddle
Again here comes a suggestion from a friend, she says the best way to get over someone is to - *ahem - date someone else. (You can insert your own word of choice there.) It can sometimes feel painful and too soon, but the sooner you get back out there, living your life, the sooner you will move on. If you're not sure where to begin or you've not dated in a while, try one of many online dating websites. If you're divorced and are looking to date divorced singles, or you're just looking for the best dating sites, there's plenty out there on the worldwide web. Search for the best dating sites for your local area too, in time Google will become your new best friend!
Other dating sites worth mentioning are eHarmony, Match, dating agency Wiltshire, Guernsey dating site, and Hampshire dating site.
