Throw An Epic Halloween Party With These Top Tips*

*This is a collaborative post*

Now that October is well on it's way, it means that Halloween isn’t too far away. With two weeks to go, now is the time to start thinking about what you are going to do for it. Trick or treating isn’t going to be for everyone. But there is still plenty of time to get a party planned for one of the most fun nights of the year. But don’t fret, throwing a Halloween party doesn’t need to be stressful. You can throw a party for Halloween quite cheaply and simply. Here are some of the best ways to do it.

The Food and Drink

Halloween is a fun time to celebrate and have a party. And even better when you can celebrate with some really fun food and drinks. If you can’t have an eyeball martini on Halloween, then why can you? Pinterest is full of some fun and simple ideas. But there are a few key things to have for your party food; food colouring, edible eyes, and ketchup. You can make anything look more spooky or sinister if you add some edible candy eyes to it or have some ketchup looking like blood. Just decide if you’re going for sweet or savoury (if you’re keeping things simple, then there is no need to do both).

The Entertainment

Half of the fun of a Halloween party is to see everyone’s costumes and decipher what everyone has come as. But a few games and entertainment is always a good idea too. You could try some Halloween related drinking games, a 'guess who' style game where everyone is give a post-it with a person written on it, and even some classic party games with a twist. Grown up pass the parcel with a trick or a treat in each layer can also make for some entertaining fun.

The Decorations

You can go all out for a Halloween party if you really want to. But in reality, all you really need is some pumpkins (you could even carve them as a party game), some black sheets and tablecloths, some fake spiderwebs, and you’re pretty much set. Decorating for a ghoulish party can be pretty simple but will look mega effective. A smoke machine can be a fun addition if you’ve got a well-ventilated room and some budget. And never underestimate how much some hanging ‘bats’ or skeleton bones can have on the room.

The Music

With some speakers and a spooky Spotify playlist, you'll be good to go. Just have it as background noise, unless you want people up and dancing. With the technology we have these days, you don’t have to spend money to get this aspect of the party right.

The Costumes

If you have a particular theme in mind, then make sure that you stress the style of costume you want people to dress in when you invite them. If you want them to be in spooky costume, then it will save any of the Mean Girls-style ‘I’m a mouse’ fancy dress. Putting on a witches hat does not a witch make!

What are your plans this Halloween?
