How To Let More Natural Light into Your Home*

When you have a lot of natural light in your home, your home will feel brighter and it can even give you the illusion of having more space as well. If you are struggling to get more light into your home or if you just want to make sure that you lower your electricity bills then there are one or two things that you can do to make this happen.

Walls and Colours

One way for you to make your room feel brighter would be for you to paint the walls in very bright colours. You will want to avoid dark colours or even block colours and always go for pastel colours where possible. This is actually one of the best ways for you to let more light into your home when you’re on a budget. The best thing about white paint is that it can help to reflect the light that is coming into the home, rather than absorbing it like most other paint.

Go Gloss

If possible, always make sure that you have plenty of shiny surfaces in and around your home. This is especially the case when it comes to your units. This will really help your home to feel brighter and much bigger as well. In your other rooms, you will find that reflective surfaces can really help to diffuse light and this is especially the case when you have metallic items or even mirrors.

Blinds and Curtains

If you have the budget then one way for you to let more natural light into your home would be for you to install much bigger windows. When you install big windows, you’ll quickly see that this is the best way for you to capitalise on the property that you have and it can even boost the value of your home as well, so you know that you won’t have any issues when it comes to putting it on the market. If you have bigger windows, consider making the windowsill into a seating area, as this will draw attention to the window in general.
