Dating When You've Moved - How To Find Singles In Your Area*

*This is a collaborative post*

It goes without saying that moving house is stressful, but when you're moving a million miles away to an unknown area where you know no-one, it can also be scary too.

People move for many reasons, for university, for their job or just to get away from the life they had, because they have a desire to start over.

If you yourself have recently arrived in a new town or city, then settling into your new home will no doubt be one of your first priorities as will getting a job if you haven't already. (The bills won't pay themselves unfortunately.) But once you are feeling more relaxed, you'll want to make new friends, to get out and about and to enjoy the adventure that awaits. If you're also single then you might very well want to start dating and there's really no better time than the present, especially with how easy online dating is now.

Most people have heard of all the major dating sites such as Tinder, Match, eHarmony, Zoosk and Elite Singles, and they're all great, but there's a lot to be said for the many other dating sites which are designed for you and the area in which you live.
Take for instance Devon dating sites, these sorts of sites are perfect for those living in the Devon area who are looking to date singles from the same vicinity. Likewise if you live in Portsmouth then you'll ideally want a website for dating in Portsmouth
When you join a more 'mainstream' dating site, you run the risk of hitting it off with someone who lives halfway across the country. Ask yourself if you'd really be prepared to travel all that way? The last thing you want or need in any new relationship is the stress of travel and distance, it doesn't make things easy and trust me I know! At least if you choose a local dating site you'll hopefully meet singles who live much nearer to you.

Whether you choose to pay for online dating or plump for a free dating site, it's really up to you. I've spoken to friends who sit on both sides of the fence. On the one hand there are those who believe that if someone is paying then they're bound to be more serious and less likely to mess you around. On the other hand, many of my friends have said that there's no point in paying for online dating as they've actually come across the same people on both variants of sites. The choice is yours, I guess you'll have to see which works best for you.

There are plenty of local online dating sites to choose from other than Devon dating sites. In fact they're spread out all over the UK. For instance if you happen to live further North and are after a Scottish man, then why not check out Tayside dating? I personally love the Scottish accent! Ssssh don't tell my BF! :)
