A
beautiful smile is the prettiest ornament that you can find. –

Body language is very important, and not just when it comes to first
impressions, but also in more complex life situations, such as at
work or socializing with friends. The most essential aspect of body
language is a smile. A smile can make you seem more confident and
more approachable. However, not everyone is born with a knockout
pearly white smile that can conquer the world. Sometimes, you just
need a little help, effort and practice to get there. Here are some
tactics that can help you make your smile more attractive.
Take care of
your oral health
The
foundation for an attractive smile is a healthy smile. That’s why
the most useful thing you can do for yourself is take care of your
mouth. This includes regular teeth brushing (twice a day, at least), but also proper
brushing. Make sure you’re not rough when brushing your teeth,
because this doesn’t necessarily mean you will clean them better.
If anything, you will just damage your gums. Besides brushing, it is
essential to floss once or twice a day so that you can prevent the
build-up of off-white or yellow plague. You can try some at-home
whitening treatments which are not harmful to your teeth, such as
adding baking soda to your toothpaste or swishing coconut oil in your
mouth for a couple of minutes.
Avoid staining
substances
We know,
it is hard to get through the day without a couple of cups of coffee,
but you should know that coffee can stain your teeth and ruin your smile. Other staining
substances you should reduce or avoid are black tea and red wine. If
you are a smoker, try to quit because of your teeth and overall
health, but you can also switch to vaporizer or e-cigarettes.
Ask your
dentist for help
In some
cases, the shape or the colour of your teeth can become an obstacle
on the road to the perfect smile, especially if they have a
devastating impact on your confidence. This is when you should ask
your dentist for help. Retainers, braces or other treatments can be
crucial for getting rid of gaps between your teeth or fixing crooked
teeth. In the Land Down Under, a famous YouTube star, Lauren Curtis
is promoting another great way to get a natural-looking beautiful
smile, and it is already catching on across the country. Applying porcelain veneers in Melbourne has become an increasingly
popular procedure and it's available in almost every dentist’s
office.
Be confident
A smile
is often a matter of confidence, and it is something that hardly
anyone can fake, especially because you don’t need just your mouth
to smile, but also your eyes. If you aren’t feeling sure of
yourself, it will be difficult for you to give a kind, cute smile
even to the dearest of persons. To capture the sincerity of a smile,
you can try to remember a dear memory or think of something happy,
because nothing can replace a genuine smile. Try to remember a joke
or a person you love and the smile will come to you. Start your
mornings by looking in the mirror and smiling at the person you see
on the other side.
Practice,
practice, practice
Smiling
may not seem like something you can practice, but it is a skill, not
like any other, but still a skill. Here are a few tips that can put
that attractive smile on your face:
- Start with a formal smile. It is the smile you would have during work presentations or school photographs. Put your tongue behind your upper teeth to make your bottom lip look fuller and hide the gaps between your teeth.
- Move on to the friendly smile. This is a subtle smile you use when saying hello to a friend or a neighbour on the street. Just curve your lips on the side without showing your teeth. Easy-breezy.
- Try stretching your lips as much as you can without opening them, and keep them like that for about ten seconds. Repeat this exercise about ten times a day.
- You can also try to touch your nose with your lips, or suck in your cheeks.
- Stretch your lips with your fingers in a big smile.
All of
these exercises will improve your control over your lips and the
area around them, which will make smiling much easier.
Remember,
a genuine smile that comes from the heart is beautiful, no matter
what, and all of these tips are just shortcuts to help you make a
better impression with your body language.
