Is Your Home Draining You?
If the answer to this is no, then you’re ever so lucky to be in that situation. The home is the single biggest drainer of money for a lot of people, so much so that owning a home gets most people into debt at some point. It’s not just the mortgage that seems to make people struggle, it’s all the costs that are associated with owning a home that puts people in a predicament with money. Even if you rent a home, you’ll still face the problem of the home draining a lot of money due to bills. But worrying about this is not a life that you want to lead, but it’s the life that a lot of people are condemned to. So, we’ve come up with a few ways that you can reduce the stresses to your finances that your house might be creating, have a read on to find out more.
Switch Your Bills
This is the first thing you should be looking to do. Switching your bills to a different company can potentially save you hundreds of pounds per year. Even if you’re with the same company for years, it doesn’t mean they’ll give you any form of discount, in fact, a lot of the time companies bump up the price a little because they know you’re a loyal customer. As much as this doesn’t make sense to us, they believe a customer will pay up due to the hassle of having to switch to another company. But is it really that much hassle? No, it’s not! Companies such as Simply Switch make the process a whole lot easier, and give you a clear comparison of different energy prices that you could have. You’ll often find a lot of companies offer new customer discounts, meaning your first few months, or even a year, will be at a nice manageable discounted rate. Always make sure you’re reading the fine print however. These customer deals will suck you in, only for you to find that once the deal is over, you’ll be spending a lot more than you would have liked to.
Manage Your Bills
It could be that you’re managing your bills in the wrong way, and that’s why you feel as though they’re draining you so much. The first way of managing them would be to put some money aside each month for the next set of monthly bills. That way you’re not hit so hard in the face with a massive bill that you can’t handle. You should also try and stay on top of your energy and water use as much as possible. If you have children that seem to be spending hours in the shower, cut it down.
Cost Saving Alternatives
Sometimes you just need to know how to cut the costs in general. For this particular section, we’re going to talk about your food shop. The first thing you can do is use comparison websites online to show you what shops are offering the best deals, therefore you should be able to save some money. You could then look into couponing. You really will be surprised how much cutting a little voucher out of the paper could save you money!
