Lucrative Side-Hustle Ideas*

*This is a collaborative post*

I think it's fair to say that the majority of GGD readers hold down day jobs that earn an 'average' living. There's nothing wrong with this, but it can be frustrating watching those above you as they reap all the rewards. If after years you're still sitting around waiting for that much promised promotion, hoping that your boss might notice all the extra hours you've put in so he or she will give you a pay rise, I'm here to tell you that it's time to look at your other options. You might be surprised to know that there are actually many ways in which you can earn some extra cash as a side hustle. So, instead of sitting around waiting for your boss to wake up and smell the coffee, give yourself a gee up, get out there and start earning for yourself.

Most of us don't have a lot of spare time and thus won't want to spend every waking minute on a newly founded empire. However, there are a few different strategies which will help you to make some extra cash. No matter what you do for your day job, you can have a great hustle on the side if you want. The internet is an incredible and powerful tool for many reasons. It allows us to work for people internationally and acts as a great way to advertise our services to local families. You never know, if you love something enough ie. blogging, and you keep getting more and more custom, it could end up being something that you do full-time!

Tutoring

Whilst being a formal teacher can take years of training, becoming a tutor is a whole different kettle of fish. Providing you have experience or expertise in a particular area, you could work as a tutor online. It could be for students or it could be for anyone that wants to learn the particular skill that you have. There are some tutoring opportunities online to teach English as a second language, as well as even making your own set of training courses to have online. This can be a good way to get an income by only having to do something once, yet people will want to download time and time again.

Social Media Manager

Many small businesses, and even some larger ones, don’t have the time or capability to manage their social media channels. They will have them and will know the importance of them, but in many ways, it can be a full job running them all of the time. If you know your way around social media, and understand how a business can benefit from it, then it could be a fun side hustle for you too. Don't forget, thanks to the wonder of the internet, business can even be abroad too!

Sell Services Online

Sites like Fiverr are a great way to get some odd jobs here and there. If you have a skill such as knowing how to design websites or you’re pretty creative and can design logos, then this kind of thing can be advertised online. People hire you for the job, and that's that. While the work might not be super consistent, it can be a good way to build up a portfolio of work, especially if you’d like to end up doing it again later down the line.

Mystery Shopping

Working as a mystery shopper can be a really good hustle that will fit around your other commitments. You simply pick and choose what you accept. Location is key, though, as often your travel won’t be covered. If you live in a big city or close by to retail areas, then mystery shopping could be a good thing for you to look into! You could soon be getting paid just to browse in shops.
