Have you ever wanted to have a garden, but are discouraged by lack of time or the huge efforts that go into maintenance? Then you are certainly not alone. That being said, there are ways for you to make your garden low-maintenance without having to worry about a thing.
Keep your Plant Variety to a Minimum
It’s very simple math when you think about it. The fewer plants you have, the more free time you will have to just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour. If you want to take things to that next level then remove all of your plants and have a gravel garden instead. There is no maintenance required here and you can make your space way more relaxing as a result. If you don’t want to put down gravel but want to have some very low-maintenance plants, then think about evergreen shrubs. They include lavender and euonymus. You can even add some colour if you want by adding a few decorative containers.
Leave your Lawn
Lawns require so much care and attention, so it’s not surprising to see that they are public enemy number one. If you want a low-maintenance garden, then you need to replace the lawn you have with some artificial grass. You can get some free artificial grass samples online if you want and when you do, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to have the best gardening experience.
Gravel Paths
If you want to stop weeds, then gravel paths are the way to go. They can stop weeds from growing because they are able to drain water away pretty quick, and they are very low maintenance too. If you opt for a gravel path, then you can still have artificial grass at either side, and you can also add a lot of other decorative elements too.
Create A Seating Location
Transform your garden by adding a seating location. This could be a paved area or it could be a gravelled section. Either way, if you want to stop weeds then try and use vinegar products as this will stop plants nearby from growing. Wide plant beds can be placed around the seating area if you want, and when you do this, you will soon find that you can plant all-year-round bulbs. This can include native border shrubs, bulbs or perennials. This will brighten your space without you having to worry about a thing.
Spend Time Where it Counts
The art of having a low-maintenance garden is getting the maximum result with the least amount of effort. If you want to do this then you need to make every moment outside count. Look around the garden and try to find the garden features that you find yourself interacting with the most. It doesn’t matter whether it is a water feature or whether it is a small vegetable patch because you need to focus your efforts here. If you do, then you will soon find that your garden looks great and that you can reduce the amount of time you spend tending to areas that are not worth your time.
