*This is a collaborative post*
I was scrolling through my Facebook
feed just the other day when I came across a friend's post of her recent
living room transformation. She had uploaded before and after photos
and trust me when I say I was speechless. The final result was
absolutely spectacular. I've always loved her unique and quirky
bohemian style, and both her and her hubby have created what I can only
descibe as a heavenly haven as you can see in the before and after photo below. The ceiling has been ripped out to reveal
original wooden beams and a beautiful orange hammock hangs down which
matches the orange Ikea sofa. A gorgeous rug sourced from a flea market
sits pride of place on the floor whilst the retro sideboard is home to
the television. It really is the kind of living room that inspires me to create and I love that!
I'd also have framed prints of my favourite quotes and I'd probably go for a hand made multi-coloured braided rug. The floor would be stripped back to expose the original wooden floor boards and of course I'd have a hanging chair or hammock for relaxing in. You can get hammocks from a variety of places but I'd really recommend checking out this hammock store who offer a huge range of stunning, luxurious and sustainable pieces like the one below. They offer free shipping and you get 365 days to change your mind!
If you're planning redecorating and love the free spirited bohemian style, then I'd recommend checking out flea markets, second hand stores, pre-loved sites, pop up galleries and charity shops. The idea is to collect or source a variety of pieces which help to give a room that eclectic, bohemian feel. Think vintage, lots of colour, different textures and patterns. Incorporate layering and accessorise with throws, cushions, candles, plants, artwork, handmade items and unique pieces. If you're going to invest in a hammock or hanging chair then be sure you have two sturdy suspension points such as a wall or beam. Above all, when creating your bohemian haven, the room should feel 'lived in' and should be an expression of yourself.
If
you have a bohemian style room in your home or are in the middle of a transformation then I'd love to see
photos, just tag me on Twitter and I'll give you a shoutout!
Until next time...
